TwoBridges Vineyards, near the village of Milford in Prince Edward County Ontario, is an incorporated business consisting of four revenue generators: a future 50 acre vineyard of wine-grapes; 36 acres of managed woodlot; 100 acres of farm land leasing; and two websites.

 

 

 

 

acreage  In 2008, the vineyard is 10 acres of red and white wine grapes. The first harvest in 2004 came from 2 acres of Baco Noir vines planted in 2002. The 2007 harvest came from 1 acre of Pino Noir, 3 acres of Gamay Noir, 1 acre of St. Laurent, 3 acres of Baco Noir and 1 acre of Gewurztraminer grapes. 1 acre of Frontenac will be producing in 2008.
additions At the present planting rate, the vineyard will be 20 acres in 2012. There is consideration of a small planting of table grapes for the purposes of making jam and jelly. The vineyard is presently being maintained by one full time person and four part time persons.

timber The managed woodlots consist of Basswood, Maple, and Oak. A forest management consultant has audited the potential of these woodlots to produce quality timber.  Hardwood pulpwood and Sawlogs have been harvested in 2002 through a managed woodlot program sponsored by Domtar. Other wood cutting on the property for firewood is conducted to remove dead trees and promote a healthy habitat. There is consideration of putting in a future sugar bush facility. There is an annual tree planting program.

attractions An area farmer is leasing 100 acres of the property and is planting cash crops. Oats and barley, soybeans and corn have been planted and harvested since 2003. Two web sites are maintained and will be used to e-market TwoBridges products and services. Presently, www.twobridges.biz and www.twobridgesvineyards.com have attracted a Vines Nursery, a Resource Centre, a local Realtor, an Art Gallery and a wine critic as advertisers on related links pages of the web sites. A local painter has painted the waterfalls and captured the scenic views of the area around the property.

future endeavours Future plans for TwoBridges include a large farm implements building which was completed in 2006, will eventually be converted into a winery. In 2008 the first 3 holes of a private multiple play golf course for agri-tourism functions will be constructed. A family home will be built on the property in 2010 overlooking the waterfalls of Black Creek. The implementation of a green energy generation facility will be introduced to TwoBridges Vineyards.
